DevOps Course in Kochi

Best DevOps Training in Kochi — Why 2026 Is the Right Time

Kochi sits in a strange position, and it’s worth being honest about it before you spend ₹35,000 anywhere.

Infopark is genuinely large. Hundreds of companies across two phases at Kakkanad, tens of thousands of people working there, and a third phase being planned with GCDA as an AI township. Kerala’s government has a draft GCC policy and has talked about reaching well over a hundred capability centres by 2031.

And yet, if you work in a Kakkanad office today, you almost certainly know somebody doing the same job in Bangalore for noticeably more money.

That’s the real picture. Not a boom, not a dead end. What it does mean is that DevOps skills open four doors from Kochi rather than one: a better role inside Infopark or SmartCity, a move to Bangalore, a remote job for a company somewhere else, or the Gulf. Most training pages in this city only talk about the first.

Kochi’s quiet advantage: aviation, travel and logistics software

Here’s something that gets left out of every DevOps course page in Kerala.

IBS Software is headquartered at Infopark. It builds SaaS platforms used by airlines, travel companies and logistics operators around the world, which means high-availability systems, API-heavy architecture, and the kind of uptime requirements where a bad deploy has consequences in several time zones at once. That’s genuinely good DevOps experience to have on a CV.

Around it sits a port and logistics cluster that most people forget is there: Cochin Port, the Vallarpadam container terminal, Cochin Shipyard, and an airport that runs on solar. Whether those translate into DevOps roles specifically is worth checking before you build a career plan around them. But the software layer that keeps travel and cargo moving is a real Kochi speciality, and it isn’t something Bangalore or Hyderabad can claim.

Why ShiftToTech rather than a Kakkanad classroom institute

8+ years of production DevOps at TCS

Not a full-time trainer who learned the syllabus. Someone who has run multi-region AWS infrastructure, EKS clusters, Terraform and ArgoCD in production.

Ten students per batch, and we say the number

Ask any institute you’re comparing how many people are in a batch. "Small batch" has meant anything from eight to forty. At thirty, your Kubernetes RBAC question gets parked until next week.

Weekend live classes

Saturday and Sunday, so you keep your job. This also happens to be why learners in the UAE and Saudi can attend live rather than watching recordings at midnight.

Current tools

AWS, Azure, Kubernetes, Terraform, ArgoCD, and a GenAI module. Not Puppet and Nagios, which several syllabi in this city still lead with.

Real projects you own

Deployed, on your GitHub, with links an interviewer can open during the call.

DevOps Engineer Salary in Kochi — 2026

Most course pages give you one confident number here. I’d rather show you why there isn’t one.

Payscale puts the average base salary for a DevOps engineer in Kochi at roughly ₹9.2 lakh. The same dataset shows the 10th percentile near ₹2.9 lakh and the 90th near ₹20 lakh. One job board estimates Kochi DevOps roles at ₹5.4 to ₹8.6 lakh. A Kerala-focused salary guide starts freshers at about ₹3.5 lakh. And if you scroll actual listings, you’ll find Kochi DevOps roles advertised at ₹10,000 to ₹25,000 a month for people with under two years’ experience.

All of those are true simultaneously, because “DevOps engineer” in Kochi covers three different jobs. A support-adjacent role at a small firm. A proper platform role at a product company. And a remote role paid at another city’s rate. Which one you land matters far more than which city you’re in.

Entry level (0–2 years)
₹3.5 – 6 LPA
Mid level (3–5 years)
₹6 – 11 LPA
Senior (5–8 years)
₹12 – 20 LPA
Lead / Architect (8+ years)
₹20 – 30 LPA

Compiled from Payscale Kochi, public Kochi job listings and Kerala salary data, September 2026. Ranges move; treat them as orientation.

Before you accept anything, ask what the job involves on an ordinary Tuesday. If the answer is mostly restarting servers and closing tickets, the title won’t do much for your next salary. If it involves owning pipelines and cloud infrastructure, it will. In Kochi that distinction is the whole game.

On cost of living: rent near Kakkanad or Edappally is a fraction of what the equivalent costs in Bangalore, and the commute is measured in minutes rather than hours. A ₹7 lakh salary here often leaves more in the bank than ₹9 lakh in Whitefield. Not always. Worth doing the arithmetic for your own situation rather than taking anyone’s word for it. There’s a national breakdown in our DevOps salary guide for India.

DevOps Job Roles in Kochi 2026

RoleRangeWhat you actually do
DevOps Engineer₹4–11 LPACI/CD ownership, cloud deployments, infrastructure automation. The most common title across Infopark.
Build & Release Engineer₹3.5–8 LPAJenkins pipelines, artifact management, release coordination. Common entry title at the large service companies.
Cloud DevOps Engineer₹6–14 LPAAWS or Azure native deployments, EKS or AKS management, cost work. Strong demand at GCC and product teams.
Site Reliability Engineer₹8–18 LPAReliability, scaling and incident response for production systems. Fewer roles, higher bar.
CI/CD Specialist₹5–12 LPAPipeline design across Jenkins, GitHub Actions and GitLab CI. Often how testers move across.
Platform / DevOps Lead₹18–30 LPAToolchain design, multi-cloud strategy, mentoring. Senior roles at product companies and larger GCCs.

DevOps Job Market — Kochi, Area by Area

Infopark Phase 1 & 2, Kakkanad

The centre of everything. TCS, Cognizant, Wipro and UST all run operations here, and several hundred smaller firms sit around them.

The big names hire through structured drives: an online test, a technical round, then HR. The technical round leans on fundamentals rather than exotic tooling, so expect Linux, a bit of networking, some AWS, and a long conversation about whatever is on your CV. That last part is where most freshers lose it, because they can’t explain their own projects in any depth.

The smaller firms hire differently. When a project lands, they need somebody quickly, and they move on referrals and portfolios. A working GitHub matters more there than a certificate.

IBS Software

Worth its own paragraph. Kochi-headquartered, building aviation, travel and logistics SaaS used worldwide. Production systems where downtime is expensive and deployment discipline is genuinely tested. If you want the kind of DevOps experience that travels well, this is one of the best places in Kerala to get it.

SmartCity Kochi

A separate campus from Infopark with its own mix of tenants. I’d check their site directly rather than trusting any list, including this one, because the tenant mix has shifted more than once.

Kalamassery, and the startup side

Kerala Startup Mission supports a real base of small product companies around Kalamassery and Kakkanad. Teams are tiny, which means one DevOps person often owns the pipeline, the cloud account and the on-call phone. You learn quickly. You also carry more than you would at TCS.

The route nobody writes about: moving internally

This is the most realistic path for a large share of the people reading this page, and I’ve never seen a Kochi training institute mention it.

In a city built on service companies, more people become DevOps engineers by moving inside their current employer than by switching jobs. Your company already needs people who can handle pipelines. They’d rather retrain someone who knows the client and the codebase than hire a stranger and spend three months on context.

What that looks like in practice: get yourself onto the release rota, even for the boring releases nobody wants. Volunteer the next time somebody says the Jenkins job is broken again. Do an AWS certification and make sure your manager knows you did. Then ask, in plain words, to be considered when the DevOps team next has a gap.

One honest caveat. An internal move usually comes with a smaller immediate raise than a job switch. It also comes with far less risk, and the market rate catches up at your next appraisal or your next company.

What’s planned

Infopark Phase 3 with GCDA, developed through land pooling and positioned as an AI township. Kerala’s GCC policy, which was still in draft as of mid-2026. Both are direction of travel, not jobs that exist today. What they suggest is that cloud and infrastructure people get hired early when new centres open, because nothing else runs until the infrastructure does.

Company names indicate a Kochi presence only. None is a hiring or referral partner of ShiftToTech Academy.

The Gulf Route — Kochi’s Fourth Option

A large number of people reading this are not in Kochi at all. They’re in Dubai, Sharjah, Riyadh, Doha or Muscat, working in IT support, networking or system administration, and wondering what the next step looks like.

So, honestly: what do Gulf employers hiring DevOps people actually ask for? Mostly the same things Indian employers ask for. AWS or Azure, Kubernetes, Terraform, CI/CD, and monitoring. That’s the curriculum on this page, which is not a coincidence but also not a promise. Certifications carry more weight in Gulf applications than they do locally, partly because the hiring manager may never meet you before an offer and needs something external to trust.

The time zones actually work

UAE
5:30 PM
when a 7 PM IST class starts
Saudi Arabia
4:30 PM
when a 7 PM IST class starts
Qatar & Bahrain
5:30 PM
when a 7 PM IST class starts

That’s after work, not the middle of the night. Weekend batches land similarly well, though do check against your own weekly off, since Friday sits differently there. Sessions are recorded either way. But attend live if you can, because the part you lose in a recording is the bit where your specific error gets fixed on the call.

What this page will not tell you

No salary figures for Gulf roles. What you’ll earn in Dubai or Riyadh depends on the employer, the visa, whether your family is with you, and how the package is structured between basic, housing and allowances. Anyone quoting you a guaranteed number is guessing, and probably selling something.

No visa guidance either. That’s a question for a proper consultant, not a training institute.

What we can do is teach the skills the job descriptions ask for, help you present them in a CV that survives an international screen, and practise the interview. The rest is yours.

Why Online Beats a Kakkanad or Edappally Classroom

Classroom institutes in Kochi are not bad. Some are good, and one of them operates from inside Infopark, which is a fair trust signal. If sitting in a room with other people is how you learn, that’s a legitimate reason to choose one. Two things to weigh against it.

The first is the commute. Anyone who has crossed Vyttila junction at 6 PM, or come in from Aluva on a weekday evening, knows what a daily trip to a class costs you in hours. Over sixteen weeks it adds up to something close to a second course.

RouteRough weekly hours lost
Aluva → Kakkanad8–12 hrs
Tripunithura → Infopark6–10 hrs
Edappally → SmartCity4–8 hrs
Fort Kochi → Kakkanad8–12 hrs
Vyttila → Kakkanad5–9 hrs
Online, from home0

The second is batch size, and this is the one I’d push harder on. DevOps is learned by breaking your own setup and working out why. A trainer with forty students can demonstrate the fix once. They cannot sit with your particular pod that keeps crashing. With ten people, that debugging becomes part of the class instead of an interruption to it.

And abroad: professionals in the UAE, Saudi Arabia, Qatar and Oman regularly join the weekend batches. If you’ve been searching for DevOps training in Cochin, this is the same course. Only the spelling varies.

DevOps Course Curriculum — Built for Kochi’s Market

Sixteen weeks, three phases. The tools here are the ones Kochi job descriptions and Gulf listings actually ask for, which is a lower bar than it sounds. A fair number of syllabi in this city still lead with software most employers stopped requesting years ago.

Phase 1 · Weeks 1–5

Core foundations

Linux command line properly, not a two-hour overview. Bash and Python scripting for automation. Networking fundamentals: TCP/IP, DNS, HTTP, load balancing. Git version control including branching and pull request workflow. Then Docker: images, containers, Dockerfiles, Compose, multi-stage builds. This phase feels slow if you are impatient. It is also the phase that determines whether the rest makes sense or just gets memorised.

Phase 2 · Weeks 6–10

CI/CD and Kubernetes

Jenkins pipelines and shared libraries, GitHub Actions, GitLab CI. Then Kubernetes: architecture, deployments, services, ingress, ConfigMaps and Secrets, RBAC, autoscaling, Helm charts. Blue-green, canary and rolling deployment strategies. Fair warning about week five or six: Kubernetes arrives and almost everybody wobbles. That is normal. The people who come through it are the ones who keep turning up while confused, not the ones who were fastest in week one.

Phase 3 · Weeks 11–16

Cloud, IaC, GenAI and projects

AWS: EC2, S3, IAM, VPC, RDS, EKS, Lambda, CloudWatch. Azure fundamentals: AKS, Azure DevOps, Azure Monitor. Terraform for provisioning, Ansible for configuration, Prometheus and Grafana for monitoring, ELK for logs, ArgoCD for GitOps, plus DevSecOps basics. GenAI for DevOps runs through this phase: GitHub Copilot for writing Terraform and Ansible faster, K8sGPT for diagnosing cluster issues, and AI-assisted pipeline debugging — plus, and this matters more than the tricks, learning where these tools are confidently wrong. Then the projects, end to end, plus mock interviews.

A Kochi-specific note

Because the city’s standout employers build travel, aviation and logistics platforms, the course spends extra time on high-availability deployment patterns: blue-green and canary strategies, health checks that actually mean something, and rollback discipline. These are useful everywhere. In Kochi they come up in interviews.

What you won’t spend time on: Puppet, Chef, Nagios, SVN. They appear on plenty of syllabi around. They barely appear in current job ads, and those hours are better spent on Kubernetes and Terraform, which nearly every ad does mention.

Deeper reading while you decide: our Terraform complete guide, the Jenkins CI/CD tutorial, and the ArgoCD GitOps tutorial.

DevOps Certification Preparation

Certifications don’t get you hired on their own. They do get you past screens, and they matter noticeably more in Gulf applications where the hiring manager may never meet you in person before making a decision.

AWS Certified DevOps Engineer – Professional

The most recognised DevOps certification for AWS environments, which is most of Kochi and most of the Gulf.

Phase 3 labs and mock assessments

Microsoft AZ-400 (Azure DevOps Engineer Expert)

Useful for GCC and MNC roles running Azure-native infrastructure.

Phase 3 Azure module

CKA (Certified Kubernetes Administrator)

The industry benchmark for Kubernetes operations; valued everywhere.

Phase 2, cluster administration labs

Docker Certified Associate

Validates containerisation basics; useful for entry-level service company roles.

Phase 1 Docker module

Exam fees are paid directly to AWS, Microsoft or the Linux Foundation and are not included in the course fee. Start with AWS Cloud Practitioner if you’re new, then work up.

Who Is This Program For?

01

Engineers at TCS, Cognizant, Wipro or UST in Kakkanad

Who want to move from application work into DevOps, and would rather do it inside their current company than gamble on a switch.

02

Testers and support engineers at Infopark firms

Who already read logs and handle escalations, and are missing the build side.

03

Engineers at IBS Software or other Kochi product companies

Looking to move toward platform engineering.

04

Malayali professionals in the UAE, Saudi Arabia, Qatar or Oman

In IT support, networking or system administration, wanting a path that grows.

05

Freshers from CUSAT, RSET, FISAT, SCMS, MEC, Model Engineering and other KTU colleges

Who need a portfolio that looks different from their classmates’.

06

People who came back from Bangalore

And want a Kerala-based or remote career rather than another relocation.

Who it’s not for: anyone who wants a certificate for an appraisal and has no intention of building the projects. A cheaper self-paced course will serve you better, and I’d rather say that than take your money.

DevOps Career Growth Path in Kochi

Year 0–2

Junior DevOps / Build & Release · ₹3.5–6 LPA

CI/CD support, container deployments, basic cloud. Usually at the larger Kakkanad service companies.

Year 3–5

DevOps / Cloud DevOps Engineer · ₹6–11 LPA

Kubernetes operations, Terraform, owning parts of the stack. This is where the remote and Gulf doors start opening.

Year 5–8

Senior DevOps / SRE · ₹12–20 LPA

Reliability, multi-cloud, incident ownership. Product companies and larger GCCs.

Year 8+

Platform Lead / Architect · ₹20–30 LPA

Toolchain design, strategy, mentoring.

Worth noting where the doors are. Remote roles and Gulf moves generally become realistic around the Year 3–5 mark, not before. Fully remote jobs for complete freshers are rare, whatever LinkedIn suggests.

A thing I’d push back on: the assumption that moving to Bangalore is automatically the ambitious choice. A fresher paying ₹20,000 in rent and losing two hours a day to traffic often saves less than someone on a smaller salary living at home in Kochi.

That flips later. With two years of real EKS and Terraform work behind you, you can negotiate properly in Bangalore, or skip the move and apply for remote roles at close to metro rates. The experience is what unlocks it, not the postcode.

How to Choose a DevOps Training Institute in Kochi

You’re going to compare a few places. Here’s what I’d check.

Red flagsWhat to look for
A guaranteed job, in any wordingPlacement support described as a process, with honest numbers
"Small batches" with no number attachedA stated maximum. Ask them directly.
Recorded videos sold as live trainingLive sessions where you can interrupt and ask
Puppet, Chef, Nagios or SVN leading the syllabusKubernetes, Terraform, ArgoCD, GitHub Actions
A trainer with no production experienceSomeone who has been on call for the systems they teach
No projects, or projects you can’t show anyoneDeployed work on your own GitHub
Fees only revealed on a phone callA published price

On the first one: we publish a blog post arguing that placement guarantees are mostly marketing, which you can read at the truth about placement guarantees. It would be strange to publish that and then promise you a job on this page, so we don’t. What you get is real support and honest numbers.

Frequently Asked Questions — DevOps Course in Kochi

What is the DevOps course fee in Kochi?+
₹35,000 for the full 16-week live programme, including cloud lab access and placement support. EMI options are available, and there is a 7-day refund window if it turns out not to be for you.
How long is the course?+
Sixteen weeks. Phase 1 covers Linux, Git and Docker. Phase 2 covers CI/CD and Kubernetes. Phase 3 covers AWS, Azure, Terraform, GenAI tools and the projects. Weekend batches, so you keep your job.
Is there placement support?+
Yes. Resume work, LinkedIn and Naukri profile setup, mock interviews, interview preparation for both structured drives and smaller panels, and job alerts. We do not guarantee a job, and we would be wary of anyone who does.
What is the DevOps engineer salary in Kochi?+
Wider than most pages admit. Payscale’s Kochi average sits near ₹9.2 lakh, but the band runs from under ₹3 lakh to about ₹20 lakh. Freshers typically start between ₹3.5 and ₹6 lakh. The employer matters more than the city.
Which companies at Infopark hire DevOps engineers?+
TCS, Cognizant, Wipro and UST all have Kochi operations, and IBS Software is headquartered at Infopark. Several hundred smaller firms hire too, mostly through referrals rather than open drives.
I already work at an Infopark company. Can I move into DevOps internally?+
Often, and in Kochi it is frequently easier than switching employers. Get onto the release rota, fix the pipeline when it breaks, take an AWS certification, and tell your manager you want the next opening. Bring a working project to that conversation.
Should I stay in Kochi or move to Bangalore?+
Bangalore has more openings and higher pay, and higher costs. If you are living at home in Kochi, your actual savings in year one may be better. Many people start here, build two years of experience, then decide with more leverage.
Can I get a remote DevOps job from Kerala?+
After a year or two of production experience, yes. Straight out of a course, rarely. Remote employers test Kubernetes harder and look closely at how you write.
I’m working in the Gulf. Can I attend from there?+
Yes, and several learners do. A 7 PM IST class is 5:30 PM in the UAE and 4:30 PM in Saudi Arabia. Sessions are recorded if your shift clashes, though attending live is worth it.
Will this help me get a DevOps job in the UAE or Saudi Arabia?+
It teaches what those job descriptions ask for: AWS or Azure, Kubernetes, Terraform, CI/CD, monitoring. What it cannot do is promise a role or handle your visa situation. Anyone quoting you a guaranteed Gulf package is guessing.
Is the training online or classroom?+
Fully live online. Not pre-recorded. You are in the session as it happens, asking questions and getting your errors fixed. Every class is recorded afterwards for revision.
Can freshers from KTU colleges join?+
Yes, and a good share of each batch is freshers. We start from Linux basics. You finish with deployed projects on GitHub, which is what makes a fresher CV stand out at Infopark drives.
Does the course cover Azure DevOps?+
AWS comes first, since it dominates both Kochi and Gulf listings. Phase 3 covers Azure fundamentals including AKS and Azure DevOps, with AZ-400 objectives built in. The concepts transfer between clouds, so switching later is not hard.
Which certification helps most for Kochi and Gulf jobs?+
AWS, starting with Cloud Practitioner and moving to Solutions Architect Associate or DevOps Engineer Professional. CKA is the benchmark for Kubernetes. Certifications count for more in Gulf applications than in local ones.
How is this different from classroom institutes in Kochi?+
Three things. Batches are capped at ten and we say the number. The fee is published on this page. And the tooling is current: EKS, Terraform, ArgoCD, GitHub Actions, rather than software that stopped appearing in job ads years ago.

"मतलब जीरो से एक तरीके से उठाया है। तो हर एक चीज़ के लिए"

I completed the DevOps training in Bangalore with Shifttotech after 3 years as a manual QA tester. The Kubernetes and AWS modules were the most valuable — I built 4 real projects that I showed directly in interviews. Landed a DevOps Engineer role in HSR Layout at ₹11 LPA within 6 weeks of finishing the course.
